How much blood do you lose during menstruation?
Are you wondering how much blood is "normal" during your period? Keep in mind that every woman is different and menstrual flow can vary from month to month.
The amount of menstrual blood varies from one woman to another, and sometimes from one period to another. On average, you’ll lose between 40 ml and 50 ml of blood per month. Some women may lose as much as 80 ml of blood per month, or even a little more.
In any case, there’s no need to worry! These are very small amounts compared to all the blood in your body. Furthermore, there are tampons, sanitary napkins, and menstrual cups adapted to all menstrual flows: light, medium, or heavy.
If your napkin, tampon, or menstrual cup is overflowing after only an hour, you might need a higher level of protection. Don’t hesitate to consult a pharmacist for advice!
