Answering your questions about vaping
Almost everyone around you vapes, and you're tempted? We understand the desire to experiment with vaping, especially since vape marketing is so powerful, but there are a few things you need to know. Here are the answers to your questions.
Is vaping dangerous for your health?
Yes, it can be. Vaping has harmful effects on your health, especially on your respiratory system (which allows you to breathe, you know) and your immune system (which allows you to fight off diseases). It can lead to the development of cancers and respiratory diseases, among other things. One of the biggest dangers is that nicotine creates a strong and rapid physical and psychological dependence.
I saw that vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking, is that true?
No, it's false. This is purely marketing data, aimed at making you spend your money... It is said to be based on an old study that has been criticized by many doctors and scientists. More recent research, on the other hand, states that vaping is very dangerous to health. Some vapes may contain more nicotine than cigarettes. Vaping can also lead to consuming more nicotine because of the flavors, ease of use, and lack of certain inconveniences associated with smoking (e.g., unpleasant odor, having to go outside, having a lighter, etc.), among others. So it can be just as dangerous.
Does vaping reduce anxiety?
Absolutely not. It would be nice if it were that simple... But the relief you feel with nicotine is an illusion of the brain. In fact, vaping will temporarily mask the symptoms of anxiety, but they will return very quickly once the effect wears off - it is the lack of nicotine, linked to addiction, that creates an increasingly strong anxiety.
Vape smoke is just water vapor.
No! Far from it! We may tend to underestimate the risks. It's not smoke, it's an aerosol (like Febreze, for example!) made up of nicotine, carcinogenic chemicals, heavy metals, and other products whose origin we don't yet know very well. Not the nicest thing for your body, let's put it that way!
If I only vape from time to time, am I okay?
No way... Just a puff or two, and you're inhaling a lot of harmful substances. Nicotine addiction sets in very quickly, even if you only vape occasionally.
Vaping is legal for minors
False! It is very clear in the law that it is forbidden to sell electronic cigarettes to minors, or to adults who would then give them to a minor
